ASK joins protests against Tonu murder
Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), a legal aid and human rights organisation, yesterday criticised and expressed grave concern for not arresting any perpetrator involved in the killing of Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a student of Comilla Victoria College.
"Such a heinous incident in a secured area like the cantonment and a failure to arrest anyone have raised various questions among people," ASK said in a release and demanded a fair investigation into the incident.
ASK demanded that the government take responsible measures to ensure proper and exemplary punishment for the culprits after identifying them immediately.
The body of Tonu, 19, a second year history student and a member of Victoria College Theatre, was recovered from Mynamati area on March 20.
Tonu's friends and theatre-group colleagues claimed that she had been raped before being murdered and accused the local administration of playing a "dubious role" regarding the incident.
