Anti-religious discrimination rally Dec 4
To protect the rights of the religious minorities and indigenous communities, Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council yesterday announced holding a rally in the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan on December 4.
“In the rally, we will place our demands for a national unity against religious discrimination and for a secular and democratic Bangladesh,” said the council's General Secretary Rana Dasgupta at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity.
As attacks, exploitations and land grabbing against minorities continue to rise, this culture of fear has forced them to live in a constant state of terror, he said adding that the seven decades long deprivation, discrimination, and exploitation since 1947 had compelled the minorities to leave the country. He also expressed disappointments at the government's lack of action and ability to uproot these problems, and urged the parliament to form a commission and take necessary actions to protect the rights of religious minorities and indigenous communities.
