Amina Bashir passes away
Amina Bashir, the wife of eminent artist Murtaza Bashir, passed away this morning at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka. She was 77.
Amina was on life support before the doctors took it off around 6:55am, said Munira Bashir, daughter of Murtaza and Amina.
She was suffering from kidney disease and underwent dialysis from January this year. Amina was admitted to the hospital on May 7 and shifted to its intensive care unit (ICU) on the next day. She was on life support from Wednesday, Munira added.
After namaz-e-janaza in Manipuri para, Amina was laid to rest in Banani graveyard.
Amina got married in 1962. She left behind her husband, two daughters and a son.
Family members said Murtaza Bashir was taking care of his wife at the hospital earlier. But, he was admitted to the hospital’s ICU on last Thursday due to respiratory problem.
The artist was taken to his residence on Friday night after his health condition improved slightly.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Charushilpi Sangsad expressed condolence to the family of the deceased and prayed for peace and salvation of the departed soul. They also wished quick recovery of Murtaza Bashir.
