Three injured after AC explodes in Islampur

Three persons sustained burns after an air-conditioner compressor exploded and caused a fire in old Dhaka’s Islampur this evening.

The injured were repairing the AC on the rooftop of an 11-storey building when the explosion took place around 5:30pm, said Rasel Sikder, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.

Locals rushed them to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital before firefighters reached the site, he said.

Of the injured, 20-year-old Asik sustained 40 percent burns on his body, his coworker Al Almin, 24, sustained 12 percent while Arif, 18, sustained 14 percent burns, said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
