AG receives death threat
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam again received a death threat yesterday, this time over his role in trials of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“I received an anonymous letter this afternoon that said I would be killed soon. The senders said in the letter that it seems from your statements that [Sheikh] Hasina has purchased you. You are playing with Khaleda Zia and therefore, you have no right to live. You will be killed. Hasina cannot save you,” Mahbubey Alam told The Daily Star quoting the letter.
BNP supporters might have sent the letter, the attorney general said. Officer-in-charge of Shahbag Police Station Abul Hasan said that a general diary in this regard was filed around 8:30pm yesterday. The attorney general also said he had received such letters with death threats before.
