ACC arrests BRTA officer

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday arrested Abdul Hannan, assistant director of BRTA, at his Gazipur office for allegedly abusing power.

Hannan issued fake registration and clearance certificates to shift 18 vehicles from Keraniganj circle to Manikganj when he was an assistant director of BRTA in Manikganj circle between January 18, 2009 and April 3, 2011, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said.

But the vehicles were not registered from Dhaka [Keraniganj] and no clearance certificates were issued for including those to Manikganj circle, he said.
