7 'militants' arrested in 2 days

The Rapid Action Battalion claimed to have arrested seven suspected militants in different districts of the country in the last two days.

Of them, three suspected Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operatives -- Azibul Haque, 53, Saiful Islam, 35, and Tajamul Haque, 46 -- were arrested from Chapainawabganj early yesterday.

Tipped off, a team of a Rab-5 raided a mango orchard in Kamardaho area of Sadar upazila around 3:00am and arrested Azibul and Saiful while they were holding a secret meeting.

Later, Rab arrested Tajamul from his house at Laxmipur village.

In Cox's Bazar, the elite force arrested another JMB member Sharful Islam, 30, from Court Bazar area in Ukhia around 3:30am yesterday, said Maj Ruhul Amin, company commander, Cox's Bazar camp.

Meanwhile, in another drive, Rab-11 arrested three Ansar Al Islam (Ansarullah Bangla Team) members from Bashundhara and Sabujbagh area in the capital on Saturday night.

They are Ahmed Ullah alias Imran Sunny Farhad Shyamol, 21, Jabeil Nur alias Sayem Masud, 24, and Hossain Ahmed alias Hossain Belal, 30.
