A mobile court sentenced six people to different jail terms on Thursday evening for arranging marriage of a 12-year-old girl in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat on Wednesday night.

Kafil Uddin, the groom's father, Ziaul Islam, the bride's father, and two witnesses -- Mukul Hossain and Afzal Hosssain -- were sentenced to seven days in jail each while mosque imam Omar Ali was sentenced to one month's imprisonment.

Marriage registrar Ayub Hossain was fined Tk 2,000.
