4 killed in Gaibandha road crash
Four persons were killed instantly and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Rangpur-Bogra highway in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha yesterday, reports our local correspondent.
The accident occurred at 6:00am as a Panchagarh-bound passenger bus of VS Paribahan collided with a sand-laden truck in Bakchar area, said Akhteruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Highway Police Station.
The deceased are Abdul Matin Biswas, 35; Al-Amin Hossain, 23; Tania Akhter, 6, and Rafiqul Islam, 40.
The injured were taken to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex. Later, five of them were transferred to Bogra Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, three persons including a man and his son were killed when a Mymensingh-bound private car hit a covered van on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh.
The deceased are retired school teacher Abdul Kader Khan, 70, his son Jewel Khan, 45, and driver Mosharraf Hossain Sagor, 40, police said.
Of them, Abdul Kader died on the spot and Sagor at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said Highway Police.
