3 held over Christian woman murder in Tejgaon
Law enforcers today arrested three people in connection with the reported murder of a sexagenarian Christian woman in Tejgaon area of Dhaka on Friday.
The arrestees are identified as Joynal, a former house help to the victim, and two of his cohorts Jamir and Parvez, said Biplob Kumar Sarker, deputy commissioner (Tejgaon Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
On information, a team of Tejgaon police arrested Joynal from his native village in Bancharampur of Brahmanbaria early today, the police official said.
Following Joynal’s information, police also arrested Jamir and Parvez from a slum in Mohakhali area of Dhaka this evening, he also said.
Some gold ornaments, money and a cell phone were also recovered from their possessions, the police official said.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees confessed to their involvement in the incident, DC Biplob said.
Earlier on Friday morning, police recovered the body of Milgrade Gomes Milu, 65, with a deep gash to her throat. She also suffered a knife injury on her right arm, police said.
