Ex-Eden college teacher ‘murdered for money’
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have arrested three persons including his driver in connection with the murder of Prof Ali Hossain Malik, a former teacher of Eden Mohila College.
Malik, 65, who was the general manager of Syed Group, was found dead with his body tied up by adhesive tape at his office in Banani DOHS area in Dhaka on October 11.
The arrestees were identified as Masud Mallik, 38, the driver of Malik, employee Sayed Fokir alias Saiful and Masud’s relative Sujon, 18.
Masud murdered Malik for “money” with the help of Saiful and Sujon, said Khandakar Lutfur Kabir, commanding officer of Rab-4.
Addressing a press conference today, the Rab official also said the arrestees took away Tk 1.5 lakh from Malik’s office after committing the crime.
A team of Rab-3 detained Masud from Dhaka, and Saiful and Sujon from Barisal last night.
The law enforcers also recovered Tk 1.27 lakh from the stolen money from their possessions, the Rab official said.
