253 tonnes of foreign aid for Rohingyas so far
So far, 253 tonnes of relief materials sent by five countries for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh have been received and sent to the camp at Teknaf in Cox's Bazar, according to the Chittagong District Administration (CDA).
“Of the relief items, 107 tonnes were received from India, 77 tonnes from Indonesia, 41 tonnes from Iran, 14 tonnes from Malaysia and 14 tonnes from Morocco,” said Ramiz Alam, CDA assistant commissioner. The relief materials arrived at the Chittagong airport via 13 flights, he added.
The goods include rice, lentil, sugar, salt, powder milk, coconut oil, edible oil, medicine, sheets, blankets, tents, water purifying tablets and mosquito nets.
He said more aids are scheduled to arrive in the upcoming days.
