Citi recognised as best bank in Asia
Citi was named Best Bank in Asia at the annual Triple-A 2013 regional banking awards from The Asset Magazine, the company said in a statement yesterday.
This is the bank's 15th year in a row that Citi has won the award from the magazine, and the company also picked up the best loan house in Asia awards. The awards are decided by the editorial team at The Asset Magazine.
“In a highly competitive market, this independent recognition is greatly appreciated by all of us at Citi. I would also like to thank our clients who place their trust in us to meet their financial needs day in and day out and without whom this award would not be possible,” Stephen Bird, Citi's chief executive for Asia Pacific, said in the statement.
“This win demonstrates Citi's commitment to providing the best solutions to clients in the Asia Pacific region. This has been possible by focusing on our clients' requirements and leveraging Citi's strong network,” said Rashed Maqsood, managing director of Citi for Bangladesh.
Citi raised more than $120 billion for institutional clients in Asia from international capital markets in 2013 and advised on $60 billion in M&A in the region.
In 2013, Asia generated 27 percent of Citi's net income, making the region the largest for the bank outside North America with earnings before interest and tax up 13 percent to $5.8 billion and revenues of $15 billion, up 2 percent.
