Celebrating autumn in full fervour

As autumn, the season of silvery Kashphool and white clouds, nears its end, Chhayanaut celebrated autumn yesterday morning at Bokultola, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. Artistes of Chhayanaut -- in colourful attire --hailed the season through their mellifluous renditions highlighting Sharat, the third in a cycle of six seasons.
Adorned with the gentle and snowy Kash flowers and brightly clad women, the Bokultola was lively with the presence of a large audience who thronged the venue to sing together with the performers, sitting under the large tree. But unlike previous years, this year's turnout was relatively low.

Choral rendition of Tagore song “Pohalo Pohalo Bibhabori” set the programme in motion, followed by another Tagore number “Dekho Dekho Shuktara” by Amiya Hasan. “Esho Shoroter Omol Mohima” by Abhoya Dutta followed.
Young artistes of Chhayanaut danced to “Shorot Tomar Arun Alor Onjoli”.
Next was Jayanta Roy's recitation, followed by Ummul Wara Binte Nayeem's solo rendition of “Bajilo Kahar Bina Modhur Sworey”.
A group dance in sync with “Shorotey Aaj Kon Otithi” followed by solo rendition of “Tomar Name Jani Ne Sur Jani” by Sutapa Saha took place later.
“Ebar Obogunthon Kholo”, “Helaphela Sarabela”, “Amare Dak Dilo Ke Bhitor Pane”, “Aji Megh Kete Geche Sokalbelay”, “Shorot-alor Komolbone” articulated the essence of the season.
Bikrom Das rendered “Kon Khela Khelbo Je Kokhon” while Manosh Bhattacharya sang “Sokorun Benu Bajay Ke”.
Avijit Das, Marufa Monjori Soumi, Farzana Akhter Popy, Orpita Saha and Mostafizur Rahman Turjo also performed solos at the event.
A group dance to the song “Aaj Dhaner Khet-e Roudro Chhayae” closed the programme. The celebration wrapped up with the National Anthem.
