Cattle trader shot by BSF dies in Cooch Behar
A Bangladeshi cattle trader, who was shot by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on a border under Phulbari upazila of the district on Saturday, died at a hospital in Cooch Behar district of Pashchimbanga yesterday.
The dead is Mukul Mia, 25, son of Ismail Hossain of Pashchim Balatari village in the upazila, said an official of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
A team of BSF opened fire on a group of cattle traders who entered Bashkotal in Indian territory to bring cattle early Saturday. Mukul sustained bullet injuries while other cattle traders managed to escape unhurt.
BSF men picked up injured Mukul from no man's land and took him to their camp.
Subedar Raymohon, company commander of Shimulbari camp under 45 BGB Battalion, quoted BSF sources as saying that Mukul was admitted to Dinhata Hospital and shifted to Cooch Behar Hospital where he died early yesterday.
