BASIS launches second edition of ICT award

The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) yesterday launched a second national ICT award for 2018 to recognise outstanding achievements of individuals and entrepreneurs.

Companies, students and SMEs interested in the 105 awards in 35 categories can submit nominations by July 20, the BASIS announced at a press conference at its office.

Winners will be nominated for a leading international ICT award of the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) in Guangzhou, China in October, said Syed Almas Kabir, president of BASIS.

He said they want to recognise innovative ICT projects having bright prospects. "Through a robust judging process the best ones would be selected. These projects depict the wide potential of Bangladesh's ICT sector," Kabir added.

Convener of the award, Didarul Alam Sunny, said their objective was to recognise those who contributed to the development of the Digital Bangladesh initiatives and are building applications and services for the benefit of Bangladesh.
