Separate tax fair for women in Ctg: NBR

The National Board of Revenue plans to organise separate fair for female taxpayers in Chittagong this year, NBR Chairman Md Nojibur Rahman said yesterday.

Rahman spoke at the opening of a help centre for women entrepreneurs, on the premises of Chittagong Customs House.

The centre would provide women entrepreneurs with information related to export-import activities, he said.

At the programme, he highlighted different initiatives taken by the government for businesswomen.

The commissioners of four taxation zones in Chittagong have taken the initiative for separate income tax fairs, he said.

The NBR will use the experience of the events to organise fairs in other parts of the country, Rahman said.

"To help the export sector, the government is giving tax-free bond facility for import of raw materials, but some firms are taking advantage of the facility to evade revenue."

He also urged all the stakeholders to be more responsible to get benefit of the effort of keeping the Chittagong Customs House open round the clock.

Chittagong Customs House Commissioner AFM Abdullah Khan, Commissioner of Bond Commissionerate Mubinul Kabir, Director General of NBR Central Intelligence Cell Belal Uddin were also present.
