SHIP International Hospital CME Program on Advancement of Ophthalmology in Japan and Bangladesh
An International CME on "Advancement of Community Ophthalmology in Japan and Bangladesh" has been organised recently by Ship International Hospital recently. Prof. Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed, Honorable Vice-Chancellor - Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) participated as the chief guest in this event.
He discussed Retinal Disease and Diabetic Retinopathy in detail.
"Diabetic patients must be aware that retinal and fundus examinations are necessary, they are not safe by vision test & changing glasses alone." He highlighted other eye complications—including blepharitis, cystoid macular edema, cataracts, and neovascular glaucoma, among other important issues. He also said that BSMMU has many MoU with different government organisations and to reach remote areas and ensure service they can make a MoU between Japanese University or international organization and BSMMU. He mentioned one of participants of this CME, Dr Naofumi Kita, CEO - Mitas Medical Inc. who developed a device which is beneficial to check eyesight remotely and can diagnose disease easily and can support our remote area people. "We should establish technology transfers and research for knowledge and skills transfer between two countries", He expressed his expectation to JICA about supporting this technical transfer.
