Mechanical heart implant: A success story

The first mechanical heart implant patient in the country and her husband shared their experience throughout the journey at an event titled "Mechanical Heart Implant Success & Future Planning" in the capital on Sunday. 

The transplant was done on March 2 in the capital's United Hospital, under the supervision of Dr Jahangir Kabir, chief cardiac surgeon and director of the hospital's cardiac centre. The 42-year-old patient was suffering from various heart complications for a long time.

The patient and her family expressed their gratitude towards Dr Jahangir, his team and United Hospital Cardiac Care Center. They also expressed their satisfaction over were the post-operative care, which resulted in the early recovery of the patient. 

Dr Jahangir Kabir and his team were awarded during the event. Medicine specialist and personal physician of the prime minister, Professor Emeritus Dr ABM Abdullah and director (hospitals and clinics) of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Farid Hossain Miah were also present at the event.
