Stocks bounce back
The stock market bounced back today after falling for two consecutive days amid profit booking.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), soared 56 points, or 0.94 per cent to 6,092 today after losing 90 points in the previous two days.
However, turnover, an important indicator of the market, dropped 21 per cent to Tk 1,597 crore due to thin participation of investors.
At the DSE, 191 stocks advanced, 152 declined and 29 remained unchanged.
Reliance Insurance topped the gainers' list that rose 9.98 per cent followed by Kattali Textile, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing and Paper Processing & Packaging.
Beximco Ltd became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 133 crore changing hands followed by Malek Spinning, Queen South Textiles, Kattali Textile and Dutch-Bangla Bank.
Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa shed mostly that fell 8.45 per cent followed by Aramit Ltd, C&A Textiles, Samata Leather, and Western Marine Shipyard.
The port city bourse also soared today. The CASPI, the general index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, rose 86 points to 17,657.
Among 303 traded stocks, 135 advanced, 140 dropped and 28 remained unchanged.
