SME Foundation develops e-database for SMEs

The SME Foundation has taken an initiative to develop an e-database for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the country in collaboration with the Access to Information (a2i).
As part of the initiatives, the pilot project was inaugurated through a programme at Parjatan Bhaban in the Agargaon area of Dhaka today.
Initially, the project will begin in four upazilas --Shyampur in Dhaka, Adamdighi in Bogra, Bhairab in Kishoreganj and Nesarabad in Pirojpur.
Addressing the inaugural session, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said e-database for SMEs will play an important role in financing entrepreneurs, marketing products and improving product quality.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government has taken various initiatives to enrich this largest sector of the country.
"But due to the lack of regularly updated databases, we often had to speed up various policy decisions regarding the CMSME sector."
