'Selling assets of Destiny, Jubok can be a way to compensate victims'
Some 50 to 60 per cent victims of Destiny and Jubok can be compensated if the assets of the two companies are sold now, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said today.
Destiny and Jubok have earned crores of taka by cheating thousands of people few years back.
Over the last few years, the prices of the assets of Destiny and Jubok appreciated to some extent and it is possible to pay back 50 to 60 per cent clients of the two companies, he said.
The minister was talking to journalists after a programme jointly organised by the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) and Bangladesh Competition Commission (BCC) at the latter's office in Dhaka.
However, the sales of the assets of the two companies is depending on the law ministry, he said.
"We do not want to evade our duty, but we are confined within the law," Munshi said.
