Revolution cannot cut corruption: planning minister
No revolution or military-style measures can cut corruption, Planning Minister MA Mannan said today.
He was speaking at the inaugural session of a workshop organised by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and UN Women at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre in Dhaka.
"I do not deny that there is corruption and waste in the implementation of the project. However, it must be removed from the existing laws. These things cannot be done by capturing and killing (responsible persons)," the minister said.
Mannan also said, "Feasibility study must be done in big projects. This is the directive of the prime minister."
However, feasibility study is not mandatory in small projects, he added.
The workshop was organised on "Capacity Building for Generating Gender Responsive Environmental Data Focusing to SDGs.
