Mastercard, Dhaka Bank launch contactless credit card
Dhaka Bank has partnered with Mastercard to launch a contactless credit card in Bangladesh. A deal was signed at a city hotel yesterday.
“Dhaka Bank is happy to join hands with Mastercard to launch the contactless Mastercard Titanium credit card for our customers,” said Syed Mahbubur Rahman, managing director of Dhaka Bank.
“We believe that through this partnership, we will be able to serve our customers with more diversifying products and services, and offer them the maximum utility out of their credit cards,” he said.
Syed Mohammad Kamal, Bangladesh country manager for Mastercard, said the contactless technology would promote faster, more secure and safer transactions for Mastercard cardholders.
Only a tap at a card-reader or point of sale terminal will be needed instead of the previous practice of feeding the card into a terminal, he said.
“Mastercard cardholders will also be able to avail a variety of benefits and discounts that will be offered by Dhaka Bank and Mastercard at partner outlets across Bangladesh and other countries. The latest technology will promote digital transactions to expedite the country’s move towards a cashless society,” Kamal said.
