Interbank USD rate rises to Tk 108.5

The interbank exchange rate of the US dollar has gone up to Tk 108.50, data from the Bangladesh Bank showed.

The rate stood at Tk 108 per USD between May 10 and May 14.

The interbank rate of the American greenback has been on the rise in Bangladesh for nearly a year amid higher import bills against lower-than-expected export and remittance earnings.

The dollar traded at Tk 86.70 on May 10 last year, meaning the taka has lost its value by about 25 per cent against the currency in the past one year.
