Handloom festival begins tomorrow

A four-day festival on handloom products will begin tomorrow in Dhaka's Gulshan Shooting Club.

The SME Foundation and the Association of Fashion Designers of Bangladesh (AFDB) will jointly organise the fair titled "Heritage Handloom Festival 2022" aiming to promote local products.

About 60 entrepreneurs and designers will display their traditional and heritage products at the festival, organisers said at a press conference at Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation today.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is expected to inaugurate the programme as a chief guest while Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and State Minister for Culture KM Khalid will be present as special guests.

The festival will remain open from 10am to 8pm until February 12, the organisers said.

Md Mafizur Rahman, managing director of SME Foundation, said the festival would help the entrepreneurs to flourish the small handloom businesses.
