CSR begets greater return on investment
The CSR Centre has launched its annual “Report on CSR in Bangladesh 2018: achieving impact through CSR action”, disseminating how corporates were engaged in corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes and projects in Bangladesh and abroad.
As Bangladesh is working to achieve the SDGs at the national level, CSR paves the way towards sustainable business and greater return on investment, says a press release from the centre.
The report highlights how CSR benefits businesses as well as society through strategic corporate engagement and impact-oriented action, which can be linked to the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
It emphasises how, through youth engagement, well-being of the society can be ensured and sustainability strengthened in Bangladesh.
The launching at The Westin Dhaka on Monday was moderated by Farooq Sobhan, chairman of the CSR Centre Board of Trustees, while Zillar Rahman, secretary to the social welfare ministry, was the chief guest.
The panel of speakers included Julia Niblett, Australian high commissioner to Bangladesh; Brig Gen (retd) AJM Fazlur Rahman, executive director of United Trust; Sheema Sen Gupta, deputy representative of Unicef Bangladesh; and Shahamin S Zaman, CEO of CSR Centre.
The audience included representatives from the corporate sector, government, development partners, academia and the media.
