CMSME sector to get highest priority to DCCI: Rizwan
The cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSMEs) sector will get the highest priority to the action plan of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
DCCI President Rizwan Rahman said this today at a press conference organised to share the DCCI's plan of action for the year 2022 and on the contemporary economic situation.
The chamber will prioritise on the export diversification, infrastructure, investment, skills development and digital engagement of the CMSMEs, he said.
Besides, the issues of blue economy, economic diplomacy, foreign direct investment (FDI), export diversification, taxation and LDC graduation will also get priority to the DCCI, Rizwan said.
He said the world is still suffering from the coronavirus pandemic and therefore strengthening the CMSME sector should get priority especially in terms of easy access to finance.
To cope with the growing demand for a skilled workforce, he urged the authorities concerned to invest more in research and development, re-skilling and upskilling.
Terming blue economy as an emerging sector for Bangladesh, Rizwan said Bangladesh's ocean economy stands for 3.1 per cent of the country's overall GDP. Shipbuilding, tourism, sustainable fishing, gas and mineral explorations are largely unutilised, he said.
He, however, urged for creating a national blue economy development and implementation roadmap.
