BASIS software expo begins March 19
A three-day BASIS SoftExpo 2019 will begin on March 19 with the slogan “technology for prosperity” and promises to be the country's largest exposition of software and IT enabled services (ITES) as per the organisers.
The event's 15th edition is scheduled to be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center with four new zones on industry 4.0, experience, VAT and women.
There will also be zones on digital education, fin-tech, software, mobile innovation, digital commerce, ITES and business process outsourcing.
Bangladesh is progressing towards digitisation and its local market has been expanding, for which the BASIS included new zones, said Farhana A Rahman, the event's convener, yesterday.
“Women zone has been added to inspire women entrepreneurs,” said Rahman, senior vice president of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), during a press conference at its office.
Moreover, software and ITES companies are expected to generate unique opportunities through a business-to-business matchmaking session.
More than 500 senior executives of corporate houses will join corporate hours, which are ICT career camps for students, said Rahman.
Over 250 local and international IT companies are expected to participate in the event, which will be a congregation of personalities, policymakers, industry leaders and other stakeholders as the response has already been huge, said the organiser. Registration for interested participants will begin on March 1.
Local enterprises have pinned hope on generating a substantial amount of business showcasing innovative products before prospective buyers, including those from abroad.
This will help the local IT companies expand business, said Syed Almas Kabir, the BASIS president, adding, “SoftExpo is the platform to showcase the capability of local software companies in the international arena.”
BASIS vice presidents Shoeb Ahmed Masud and Mushfiqur Rahman along with others were present.
