BB assistant directors’ recruitment: HC stays exams for 1 month
The High Court today (Sunday) stayed for a month the process for holding examination to recruit 225 assistant directors of Bangladesh Bank slated for October 28.
The bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order following a writ petition filed challenging the legality of the advertisement of the central bank for recruiting the assistant directors.
The court also issued a rule asking the respondents to explain as to why they should not be directed to amend a BB circular issued for the appointment to the posts of assistant directors in line with the instruction of public administration ministry and to fix March 25, 2020 as the maximum age limit of 30 years for the job aspirants.
Finance secretary, public administration secretary, BB governor and director of its human resources division have been made respondents to the rule.
Advocate Md Rashidul Haque appeared for writ petitioner Mirza Rokibul Hasan, while Deputy Attorney General Arobinda Kumar Roy represented the state during the hearing.
Lawyer Rashidul Haque told reporters that BB issued a circular on May 10 this year for recruiting 225 assistant directors.
Meanwhile, public administration issued a notification on September 22 giving 39 months relaxation in the age limit of government job aspirants and authorities have been asked to fix the maximum age limit by March 25, 2020.
But the notification issued for the post of Bangladesh Bank Assistant Director (General) was not re-issued after amendment by relaxing this age limit. Due to this, many job aspirants are being deprived of applying for the position, he said.
