3-day seed conference begins in Dhaka Saturday

A three-day seed conference will begin in Dhaka on Saturday to explore the potential of the country's seed business.

Bangladesh Seed Association will host the event titled "Bangladesh Seed Congress 2023" at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in association with the agriculture ministry.

Around 1,000 participants, including local and foreign scientists, seed dealers, traders and farmers, will take part in the event.

Anwar Faruque, former agriculture secretary and chief coordinator of the event, announced the programme at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital today.

"We expect 50 foreign delegates to attend the event, where 13 pavilions and 60 stalls including 10 foreign booths, will be set up at the programme venue, said Faruque.

This congress will be held for the first time in Bangladesh as the initiative of private sector, Faruque added.

Agriculture Minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaque is expected to inaugurate the event.
