14 SMEs to join trade show in US
A total of 14 Bangladeshi small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are going to participate in a trade show to be held in New York city of the US on February 5.
They will exhibit their jute products and natural fibre diversified products to North American buyers at the four-day event titled "NY NOW Winter Trade Show 2023".
Anwar Faruque, a former secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and an adviser of Feed the Future Bangladesh Horticulture Activity funded by USAID, shared the information at a press conference at Doreen Hotel in Dhaka.
The participating entities are Aasiix International, Adorsholipi, Design by Rubina, Golden Jute Product, Jermatz Limited, Jute Land Bangladesh, Jutemart and Craft in Bangladesh, Jutemart International, Karujog, Prokritee, Sami's World, Sutar Kabbo Limited, The Jute Fibers BD, and Tulika Eco.
These SMEs entrepreneurs are selected based on predefined criteria to participate in the trade show, said Faruque.
The SME Foundation, USAID and Canada's Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) will jointly support the SMEs.
At the press briefing, Lilly Nicholls, Canadian high commissioner in Bangladesh; Jeseph Lessard, acting office director of the Economic Growth Office at USAID; Md Mafizur Rahman, managing director of SME Foundation; also spoke.
