JS budget session to begin on June 5
The 18th session which is also the budget session of the 11th parliament will begin on June 5.
The parliament sitting will start at 5pm on that day, said a press release of the Parliament Secretariat.
President M Abdul Hamid convened the session, exercising his power bestowed upon him as per the Article 72 (1) of the Constitution.
The budget for the upcoming 2022-23 financial year is likely to be placed on June 9, according to the sources at the Parliament Secretariat.
The initial size of the budget is set at Tk 677,864 crore and the target for revenue income is Tk 431,657 crore, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal recently told reporters.
Although the budget session has been shortened for the last two years due to the Covid-19 situation, this time the session will run normally as the pandemic has almost come to normalcy, sources said.
There will not be much restriction on the entry of the officials and employees of the parliament.
Media personnel will also be given the opportunity to enter and cover the parliament session in person.
The 17th session of parliament was prorogued on April 9.
