Brac Bank holds breast cancer awareness event
Brac Bank, in association with Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust (Bancat) and Labaid Cancer Hospital, recently organised an awareness programme styled "Living Beyond Breast Cancer".
A total of 130 women from different segments of society, including Brac Bank's women customers, attended the event at Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka, said a press release.
Dr Ali Nafisa, an associate professor and oncoplastic breast surgeon at Labaid Cancer Hospital and Super Specialty Centre, conducted a free breast cancer screening session, also sharing about breast cancer symptoms, diagnosis, prevention, care, and awareness.
Three female cancer awareness activists were awarded for their contribution to raising awareness in the country. Rokia Afzal Rahman, founding president of Bancat was awarded posthumously while Sitara Ahsanullah, president of Bangladesh Mohila Samity, and Sabina Yasmin Madhobi, an entrepreneur and development activist, were also recognised.
Among others, Akhteruddin Mahmood, head of human resources of the bank, Indraneel Chattopadhyay, chief marketing officer, Mehruba Reza, head of women banking, Najmus Ahmed Albab, founder and executive director of Bancat, Mahzabin Ferdous, general secretary, Nehal Ahmed, vice-president, and Alamzeb Farjad Ahmed, vice-president (finance), attended the programme.
