Mobile Application Training at UAP
Department of Computer Science and Engineering of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) launched a 5-day Mobile Application Training on January 16, 2013. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary to the Ministry of ICT, inaugurated the training programme, while 40 students from UAP and other private universities participated in it. The training helped students learn Java and Android applications in details. In his speech, Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of UAP, said that the present software industry of Bangladesh will hold 160 billion dollar world market in 2016. It will further help in increasing foreign remittance and will attract international investors. To raise awareness about ICT and to develop expertise for mobile application across the country, UAP launched the training programme, under the project “64 District Mobile Application Development Programme” of the Ministry of ICT.
Among others, Dr. Mohammad Abul Hasan, Deputy Secretary and Project Director of MoICT; Pro Vice Chancellor of UAP, Dr MR Kabir; MD and CEO of EATL, MA Mubin Khan; Dr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed were present at the programme.

1st Anniversary of DIU Permanent Campus
Daffodil International University (DIU) celebrated 1st anniversary of its permanent campus on January 15, 2013 through a programme at its auditorium. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of the university, was present as chief guest. Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Director of Permanent Campus, presided at the programme. Professor Dr. A.K.M. Fazlul Hoque, Registrar of DIU; Professor Dr. Zakir Hossain, Director of Studies and Dean of Faculty of Business and Economics; Dr. S.M. Mahbub-Ul- Haque Majumder, Dean of Faculty of Science and Information Technology; Professor Dr. Golam Mawola Chowdhury, Proctor and Controller of Examination, spoke at the programme. Addressing as chief guest, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman said that the management of DIU is gradually implementing its master plan to reach the highest echelon of education. He asked the students to utilise the resources provided by the university and prepare themselves to meet the demands of the competitive world.

Rabi-Ul-Awwal Essay Competition for Visually Impaired
On the occasion of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the Institute of Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) organised an essay competition for visually impaired students from schools, colleges and universities across the country on January 11, 2014. The main goal of the competition was to generate awareness about the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) as an educator for mankind in ensuring a peaceful and tolerant society. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, chairman of National Human Rights Commission, was present at the ceremony as chief guest. Mahmoud Ezzat, Ambassador, Embassy of Arab Republic of Egypt; W.A. Sarath K. Weragoda, High Commissioner of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka; Faeq H. Hamza, Deputy Ambassador of the State of Palestine; Johannes Schneider, First Secretary and Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany; Rosemary Arnott, Director, The British Council Dhaka, were present at the ceremony, among others.
