BTI opens mega home décor store
Building Technology and Ideas or BTI, a leading real estate company, has opened a mega home furnishings store in Dhaka.
The company's mammoth outlet on 65,000 square-feet was launched at BTI's Premier Plaza on Progoti Sarani on Friday, in a bid to join the retail revolution.
The outlet is displaying a selection of furniture, décor items and kitchen appliances.
“The concept of a home store aims to enhance the shopping experience for our local consumers and bring a change to the whole outlook of our retail sector in Bangladesh,” said Mohammad Saifur Rahman, BTI's head of marketing and brand.
The company has so far invested more than Tk 100 crore for its home store venture and has created about 350 new jobs, he said. “It will revolutionise retailing in the country.”
The three-storey store will sell home accessories on the first floor, imported furniture on the second and local branded furniture on the third floor.
“Currently, buyers have to browse different stores to buy home furnishing, which is a cumbersome and painful process. This store will address this problem.”
The air-conditioned outlet also offers a host of services such as proper security, convenient bag drop-offs, escalators, lifts, cafés, baby feeding rooms and prayer rooms.
BTI, which has built more than 300 projects since 1984, plans to open two more home furnishings stores by next year, Rahman said.
BTI, a founder member of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh, is also the first construction company in Bangladesh to be awarded with the internationally recognised ISO 9001: 2008 certification for quality in 'Design and Construction of Buildings'.
After having achieved professionalism in real estate with steady growth, the company aspires to be a pioneer in offering consumers a first-of-its-kind organised retail home shopping experience, Rahman said.
