BSF picks up two Bangladeshis
Indian Border Security Force yesterday picked up a Bangladeshi farmer in Chuadanga and a cattle trader in Thakurgaon.
The farmer was picked up in the afternoon from Nimtola border point in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
The man was identified as Nazmul Huq, 22, son of Din Mohammad of Shingnagar village in the upazila.
Habildar Tota Mia, camp commander of Nimtola BGB told this correspondent that a BSF team from Banganpara camp under Kestaganj PS in Nadia district of Pasehimbanga picked up Nazmul when he was working at his crop field near a main border pillar.
Abdul Awal Khan, company commander of Darshana BGB said they sent a letter to the BSF camp demanding return of the Bangladeshi but yet to get any reply till 5:30pm yesterday.
In Thakurgaon, a Bangladeshi cattle trader was picked up by BSF from near Jagdal border in Ranishankoil upazila early yesterday.
The detainee was identified as Md. Alam, 21, son of Md. Rahimuddin of Badambari village in the same upazila, reports our correspondent.
Commanding officer of 30 BGB battalion Lt. Colonel Kamal Ahmed told this correspondent over cell phone that a BSF patrol team of Kukradaha BSF camp picked up the cattle trader from a place near Jagdal border at about 5:30am.
In the morning, BGB sent a letter to BSF asking it to return the cattle trader.
Later, a company commander-level flag meeting was held between the two border guards in the morning.
At the meeting, the BSF said that the Bangladeshi was caught inside Indian territory and later handed over to Goalpukur police station in Uttar Dinajpur district of Paschimbanga, India, on charge of intrusion.
