British Council drawing contest winners meet famous writers

Apsara Islam, a student of class four, had her dream come true yesterday as she got the chance to spend a morning with renowned writers Muhammed Zafar Iqbal and Anisul Hoque and discuss her drawings with them.
“They are just as much fun as the stories they write,” was her reaction after the meeting with the authors, who enjoy vast popularity especially among children and youngsters.
Amidst much fun and frolic, the authors told jokes, chanted rhymes, and reminisced their own childhoods with some 50 students, mostly from Heed International School.
“With the habit of reading you can broaden your horizon as well as enlighten others,” Anisul Hoque told the children.
Recollecting old memories, the authors said they had spent a significant amount of time in British Council library.
Muhammed Zafar Iqbal said, “I started coming to this library in 1968 when I passed my secondary school examination.”
The British Council organised the event on its premises on Fuller Road in the capital on the occasion of its Customer Service Week.
Earlier in an drawing contest organised for the children within the age group of 6 to 15 years, the participants drew pictures of how they visualise The British Council.
Fahmida Hossain, a student of class two, drew the sun with the word “knowledge” in it while another student Spriha drew brightly coloured balloons.
