Brac awards 24 journos, three media houses
Brac awarded 24 journalists from newspapers and three media houses yesterday for their contribution to raising awareness about tuberculosis and its treatment.
The award ceremony was held in the capital's Brac Centre Inn yesterday, also World TB Day.
Rashid-un-nabi Babu, joint editor of the daily Samakal, Shamsul Haque Zahid, deputy editor of Financial Express, and Shykh Seraj of Channel i received the awards on behalf of their media houses.
The jury board selected the awardees based on reports published and/or screened in 2013 on TB and it treatment.
Dr Md Akramul Islam, associate director of Brac's health, nutrition and population programme, announced the names of the awardees.
Dr Deen Mohammad Nurul Haque, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services, was present as the chief guest.
