Boycott AL, Khaleda tells Comilla rally
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today called upon the country people to boycott ruling Awami League.
The former primer made the call while addressing a public rally at Comilla Town Hall ground this afternoon to drum up public support for holding a fresh election under a non-party neutral administration.
“Time has come for a change. This changeover is for building the country, for bringing back democracy,” she told people at the rally.
Earlier, she left her Gulshan residence in Dhaka at 10:20am and reached the rally venue around 3:15pm, our staff correspondent reports.
The BNP-led 20-party alliance has organised the gathering mainly to protest the government's move to hike price of power and gas, and demand an election under a non-party neutral government, Amin-ur-Rashid, general secretary of BNP, Comilla district said yesterday.
The city has been decorated with colourful posters and banners to welcome the BNP chairperson.
