BGB seizes jewellery worth over Tk 17.5cr in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh seized smuggled Indian imitation jewellery worth Tk 17.5 crore from a covered van at Amrakhali in Benapole on Saturday.
Acting on a tip off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area and recovered the items, said Lieutenant Colonel Motiur Rahman, commanding officer of 26 BGB Battalion.
However, the driver and his accomplice fled the scene. The seized goods were handed over to Jessore customs office and a case was filed.
