BCL man shot dead in Comilla
An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was shot dead by a fellow party man at Barura upazila of Comilla this afternoon.
Saddam Hossain, 22, son of Anwar Hossain of Kanail village, was a local BCL activist, said AKM Kawsar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Barura Police Station.
Masum Naser, also a local activist of BCL, student wing of the ruling Awami League, shot Saddam in Jalom Bazar area around 3:00pm over previous enmity, leaving him critically injured, the official said.
Saddam succumbed to his injuries on the way to Comilla Medical College Hospital, the official told our Comilla correspondent.
Meanwhile, Omar Faruque, a joint convener of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal in upazila, claimed that Saddam was killed as he joined JCD three months ago.
Ismail Hossain, identifying himself as the convener of the upazila unit BCL, denied the allegation of JCD leader saying that Saddam had never joined JCD.
