BAU staff go on another 3-day strike today
The employees of Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh will go on another phase of a three-day strike from today as their ultimatum of meeting a demand to increase their age limit of job to 62 from 60 expired yesterday.
The decision came at a sit-in staged by the BAU staff under the banner of “Peshajibi Oikya Parishad” before the administrative building yesterday morning.
They also demanded that their pension money after retirement be paid at a time instead of four times.
They alleged that the authorities were indifferent to taking heed of their demands.
Around 700 staff of the university abstained from work for a half-day from Monday to yesterday to press the demands.
Despite repeated attempts, BAU Vice Chancellor Prof Md Rafiqul Hoque could not be contacted over the phone for his comments.
