Bangladeshi shot dead by Indian Khasias
A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by Khasias at bordering Nayapara village in Shillong district under the Indian state of Meghalaya yesterday afternoon.
The dead was identified as Delwar Hossain, 18 son of Shah Alam of Bogaiya Muslimpara village under Gowainghat Police Station.
Border sources said Khasias opened fire on Delwar as he entered the Indian territory by mistake at around 2:00pm. He died on the spot.
BGB has sent a letter to its Indian counterpart, demanding return of the body, said Md Abdul Hai, officer-in-charge of Gowainghat Police Station.
The incident took place at Noyapara village near the border pillar number 1262, The OC said, adding that BGB has asked BSF for holding a flag meeting over the issue.
On Saturday night, three Bangladeshi nationals were beaten to death by Indian civilians in Tripura state along Bulla border of Habiganj.
The incident took place while the Bangladeshis were returning home with cattle.
