Bangladeshi beaten dead in India
A Bangladeshi national was beaten to death by a mob in Kuchbihar, India opposite to Burimari border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat early today.
Aminul Islam, 33, son of Abdul Latif, is a resident of Ufarmara Telipara village in Patgram upazila, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent quoting Subedar Abdul Hamid, commander of Border Guard Bangladesh battalion-15 camp.
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) recovered the body of Islam this morning and sent it to Mekhliganj Hospital morgue for autopsy,
Golpara villagers in Kuchbihar caught Islam when he was returning to Bangladesh along with two cattle that he had stolen there around 2:30am, Hamid said 1uoting a text message sent by BSF men of Himkumari camp.
The villagers gave him a good beating, leaving him dead on the spot, the BGB official said.
The victim went to India passing the border yesterday.
Victim's father Abdul Latif claimed that Indian smugglers instigated local people to kill Islam.
A protest letter has already been send to BSF for killing the Bangladeshi citizen and also demanded immediate return of the body.
BSF will hand over the body to BGB after its autopsy, Hamid said.
