Symbolic class on street: Rajshahi students demand reopening of educational institutions

Students of Rajshahi today demonstrated -- holding symbolic class on a road in the city's Shaheb Bazar area -- demanding immediate reopening of all educational institutions.

The students under the banner of "General Students' Committee" held the hourlong demonstration from 11:30am and placed their six-point demand.

The committee's convenor Ishtiak Ahmed chaired the demonstration that was attended by over 50 students from different schools, colleges and universities in the city.

Their six demands are: 

1. Immediate reopening of all educational institutions and hostels.

2. Teachers, students and officials of the educational institutions have to be brought under vaccination programme.   

3. If anyone is infected with Covid-19, s/he will be treated under the supervision of concerned institution. And if anyone misses exams, s/he must be given a chance for supplementary exams.

4. Entry test of all universities should be conducted immediately.

5. All examinations, which were suspended due to the pandemic, must be taken as soon as possible.  

6. Review class and extra class should be arranged for students for overcoming loss. No additional fees should be collected.

Demanding the same, a rally was held in the city, which was attended by local student leaders and journalists.
