Covid-19: US-based NGO starts month-long relief distribution programme in Bangladesh
Agami Incorporated, the US-based non-profit organisation, and its sister concern "Agami Education Foundation" have initiated a month-long programme to distribute emergency relief and hygiene products among the marginalized and jobless people amid the coronavirus pandemic situation.
Like last year, emergency relief has been distributed among 1,264 helpless families of the students of Agami-funded schools.
The programme officially started on May 10 with Alok Shikkhaloy, a Dhaka-based school for underprivileged children.
This year, the relief has been distributed among the students and their families of five schools in Dhaka -- Alok Shikkhaloy, Sohag Swapnadhara Pathshala, PSD Peyarabag School, PSD Nandipara School, and Imperial Hope School -- and one in Jhenaidah -- Laksmipur Shimanto Bajar Primary School.
Food items included 5 kgs of rice, 5 kg of potatoes, 1 kg of pulse, 1 kg of sugar, and 1 kg of salt.
Besides, essential hygiene products like masks and soaps have been provided to every family. Moreover, students have been given colour pencils and drawing books as Eid gifts, which brought additional joy to them.
Nafisa Khanam, Executive Director of Agami Education Foundation said they will continue to provide relief to the students of other schools and their families. She also said, "We are grateful to the people who provided us with a donation, suggestion, and labour or assisted us in any way to implement this timely initiative."
The organisation urged the privileged people of the society to come forward to help the people who need assistance and engage in the program in the future.
