Met office says election day may be very cold

Voters going to exercise their franchise tomorrow may have to experience the bite of cold as a cold wave is sweeping over the country, met office said today.

Heavy to moderate spell of cold wave accompanied with dense fog may prevail upon the country on the voting day, said Ruhul Quddus, a meteorologist of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The cold wave is having its impact all over the country except Chattogram, Sylhet and Rangamati and it might continue till January 4 next year, he said.

Severe cold wave is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Panchagarh, Dinajpur, Kurigram and Chuadanga, the met office bulletin says.

Mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over Mymensingh, Dhaka and Barishal divisions and the rest part of Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the regions of Sandwip, Sitakunda, Rangamati, Cumilla, Feni, Srimangal and it may continue.

Today, the lowest temperature recorded was in Rajarhat of Kurigram, at 4.8 degrees Celsius.
