The longest serving Bangladesh envoy in the USA, Akramul Qader, who is going to end his term on June 2, has hosted a farewell reception at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washing DC to say goodbye to his friends and colleagues in America.
The reception was attended, among other dignitaries, by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congressman Ed Whitfield, US Chief of Protocol Ambassador Peter Selfridge, Deputy Assistant Secretary Atul Keshap, Bangladesh's Consul Generals to New York Shameem Ahsan and Los Angeles Sultana Laila Hossain, members of diplomatic corps in Washington DC, embassy officials, and members of Bangladesh diaspora.
In his speech, Qader thanked all for offering him support during the last five years of his tenure as Bangladesh ambassador to the USA.
During his term, the two countries signed the Ticfa and institutionalised regular partnership dialogue, security dialogue, and military-military dialogue.
Congresswoman Sheila termed Qader's departure as mournful, and handed over a "Certificate of Congressional Recognition" to the ambassador in appreciation of his contribution to the “continued friendship” between the two countries.
