Abahani restrict Prime DSC to 189

Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club v Abahani Limited

Under relentless pressure from Abahani Limited bowlers, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club stumbled to 189 for 9 after 50 overs in the Super League match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at BKSP’s No. 3 Ground today.

After Abahani captain Mohammad Mithun opted to field first, his bowlers vindicated his decision as they had Prime DSC struggling at 3-58 inside 18 overs. After Prime DSC lost their fifth wicket in the 34th over, their lower-order stitched together handy partnerships to make 189 in the end.

Marshall Ayub held the faltering innings together with his 57 from 83 balls. Imtiaz Hossain was the other notable contributor with 27 runs at the top. For Abahani, all their bowlers managed to snare a wicket today with Abu Jayed picking up 3-42 in 10 overs while Mohammad Saifuddin and Manan Sharma capturing two wickets each.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club v Mohammedan Sporting Club

Mohammedan Sporting Club bowled out Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club for 197 in 45 overs during the Super League match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at BKSP’s No. 4 Ground today.

Sheikh Jamal captain Rajin Saleh won the toss and decided to bat first. However, his decision seemed to backfire on his face as his side lost wickets in a heap and were all at sea at 5-59 inside 15 overs. The sixth wicket stand of 77 in 16.2 overs stopped the rot and allowed Sheikh Jamal to recover to some extent. The last wicket partnership of 29 in 6.1 overs allowed Sheikh Jamal to reach 197 in the end.

Ziaur Rahman was the outstanding performer with the bat for Sheikh Jamal today. He smashed 103 from 85 balls with six fours and nine sixes to his name. The next highest scorer for Sheikh Jamal was Mahmudul with his 22 not out. Ziaur not only held his ground when wickets fell around him, he counterattacked at the opportune moment and pulled his team out of the rut when the chips were down.

Taijul Islam of Mohammedan SC was the most successful bowler for his team with 3-49 in 10 overs. Subashis Roy and Sajedul Islam took two wickets each to peg back Sheikh Jamal.
